Testreport Paul Ricard - Thursday
PAUL RICARD – At the Paul Ricard circuit in South France, Robert Doornbos successfully started his two-day testsession for Jordan Grand Prix this afternoon. After his teammate Narain Karthikeyan drove this morning, Robert took over the wheel of his EJ15 after the lunch. Next to Robert and Narain also Marc Gene came in action today at a sunny ‘Le Castelet’.
At the High Speed Test Track, Robert today drove 40 laps to mainly supply his engineers with feedback over the engine and an inproved suspension. As Bridgestone also uses this tests to gather as much information as possible for both the German and Hungarian Grand Prix, the Japanese manufacturer brought more than sufficient sets of tyres with them. As Bridgestone today simulated Hockenheim circumstances, a slower variant - with comparable hairpins and straights - of the versatile track was used.
ROBERT DOORNBOS: “A truly interesting experience to test here! As the circuit offers as much as 160 different variants, I really had to search for the right reference points on and beside the track in my first few laps. I enjoyed a very promising afternoon as we gathered a lots of valuable information on the car. Next to that, I was also only 1,8 seconds off the Ferrari of Marc Gene. As Bridgestone tomorrow plans to collect data under high-speed conditions, we will be running a far more faster track variant. Tomorrow afternoon Tiago Monteiro is scheduled to take over the wheel of the car.”
