Robert wins ‘Viareggio Motorsport Award 2004’!
The Italian town of Viareggio is well known for its many successful sportsmen it has brought forward over the last couple of years. Therefore the town itself organises a special awardshow called ‘Il Premio Viareggio di Sport’ every year in November to put all its athletes in the spotlight.
Last Monday (08/11) many famous Viareggio based sporters were handed an award for their
performances in 2004. Next to several Olympic silver medal winners, a few Serie A soccerplayers, Marcello Lippi (coach Italian National soccerteam) and Filippo Pozzato (daywinner Tour de France 2004), also Robert Doornbos and Ryan Briscoe were given an award for their prestigious Formula One debut as Friday testdrivers for Jordan Grand Prix and Toyota.
Robert: “The sporting facilities of Viareggio together with the excellent Formula Medicine programm which Dr. Ceccarelli founded here, have helped me reaching my sportive goals in 2004. Therefore I’m very gratefull to accept this award, just to say thanks to all people here who have supported me in the last few three years!”
